Experienced Counterbalance Fork-Lift Truck Operator

Stiller Warehousing & Distribution Ltd. are looking to increase staffing in an integral part of the business – our Palletline Warehouse in Newton Aycliffe. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of experienced Forklift Truck Operators in a fast-paced warehouse at our main site on Ridgeway.

The department runs 24/6 to unload and load vehicles with palletised goods for a customer base throughout the Northeast region and belong to a wider nationally recognised delivery / collection service - Palletline which provides next day pallet services UK wide.

The applicant should have recent and relevant experience for this role and hold a certificate of training for the operation of a Counterbalance Fork-Lift Truck of which the training has been undertaken within the last 3 years. Training certificates are required and are acceptable from all recognised bodies, i.e. RTITB, ITSSAR, AITT, NPORS etc.,

Main Responsibilities & Duties – but not limited to:

· Safe operation of Counterbalance Forklift Truck

· Where required FLT will operate with double handler fork extensions – following training.

· To ensure company policy in relation to Health & Safety and relevant Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work are adhered to at all times.

· To work effectively as part of a small team to ensure the swift loading / unloading of vehicles to ensure customer requirements for time critical freight is met.

· Scanning of in / out bound freight using hand-held scanners.

· Offloading of returning vehicles of pallets and sortation for onward transit using counterbalance FLT.

· 100% compliance to pre-use checks for all MHE used.

· Duties will include working predominantly within the warehouse and canopy areas of the site.

Additional Duties:

· Highlight and escalate areas of improvement or unsafe practices

· Mentoring new staff in practices and procedures.

· Supporting the business when necessary for customer requests at short notice.

The Company reserves the right to vary or amend the duties and responsibilities of the post holder at any time according to the needs of the business.

Terms of Employment.

· The hours of work will be 40 hours per week Monday to Friday between the hours of 04.00 – 12.00hrs breaks of 1 x 40 minutes paid break.

· Candidates would be required to be flexible to work additional overtime hours where needed to meet customer requirements.

· The position will be based at Unit 10, Ridgeway, Aycliffe Business Park, Newton Aycliffe. DL5 6SP

· Hourly rate of pay £13.18/hour with an additional night shift allowance per shift worked.

· Annual Holiday Entitlement 20 days plus 8 statutory days.
