Job Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our teams as a Ward Clerk. We have two posts available -

Melton Community Hospital - 22.5 hours to be worked over three days Monday to Sunday.
Loughborough Community Hospital - 30 hours to be worked over four days Monday to Sunday, covering two wards.

The rota covers 08.00-16.00 so your shifts would be between these times.

Ward Clerks are a vital part of our very busy inpatient multi-disciplinary teams. You will often be the first point of contact on the telephone or face to face for visitors, relatives and external clinicians so you will be responsible for providing an excellent first impression. Our wards provide sub-acute care, complex rehabilitation and palliative care. You will always be visible and a source of knowledge and support for staff to ensure the smooth running of the ward.

If you are highly organised, have excellent communication skills and enjoy working with people then this role is for you!

Free parking is available on site.

The local bus transport network has a stop close by.

Job Description Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)

To be the first point of contact for relatives and carers, answering telephone calls with patience and understanding.
Providing day to day administrative and clerical support to the multi-disciplinary team.
Supporting the staff to maintain excellent standards of record keeping, ensuring that all admissions and discharges are recorded correctly.
Answering queries from visitors to the ward including professionals, signposting to other members of staff as required.
Exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances may occur indirectly.
