Working hours: This role is available on a part-time, job-share or full-time basis.

Location: Birmingham or Bristol, Hybrid

Are you a skilled underwriter with a strong background in insurance and construction? Are you driven by the excitement of new business and building lasting market relationships? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role:

As Senior Construction Underwriter, you’ll play a strategic role in expanding Zurich’s mid-market retail portfolio. You’ll take the lead in identifying and securing new business opportunities, leveraging your expertise to underwrite complex construction risks and shape Zurich’s reputation as a market leader.

How you’ll make an impact:

Proactively seek out and win new business in the construction sector, helping Zurich grow its market share.
Lead the underwriting of high-value, complex construction risks across retail portfolios.
Build and nurture relationships with brokers, clients, and partners to unlock new opportunities and deliver client-focused solutions.
Stay ahead of market trends and regulatory changes, using your insights to inform agile, forward-thinking strategies.
You will play a key role in supporting the wider regional team by fostering growth through coaching and development, encouraging collaboration, and driving commercial success.

What we’re looking for:

Proven experience in underwriting construction risks.
Strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and spot business potential.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a talent for building market relationships.
A proactive, commercially minded approach focused on business growth and client success.
