Field Sales RepresentativeAbout the role
We are looking for a Field Sales Representative to help us win new customers, build local relationships, and grow revenue in a defined territory.
This is a practical, face-to-face sales role. You will spend your time speaking to potential customers, visiting prospects, following up properly, and turning interest into booked appointments, quotes, or sales.
This role will suit someone who enjoys being out in the field, speaking to people directly, managing their own day, and being judged on real activity and results.
It will not suit someone who wants a desk-based sales role, waits for perfect leads, or dislikes regular travel.
What you will be doing
You will:
- Build and manage a sales pipeline in your territory
- Visit potential customers face to face
- Follow up leads, enquiries, referrals, and previous conversations
- Generate new opportunities through local outreach, referrals, networking, and prospecting
- Explain our product or service clearly and honestly
- Understand customer needs before recommending a solution
- Handle objections around price, timing, trust, and decision-making
- Keep accurate notes of conversations, follow-ups, and next steps
- Work to agreed activity, appointment, and sales targets
- Represent the company professionally when speaking to customers
What success looks like
In this role, success means:
- You are consistently speaking to the right types of customers
- You are creating and following up opportunities without needing to be chased
- You can explain what we offer in simple, practical language
- You are comfortable asking for the next step
- You keep your pipeline organised
- You build trust rather than using pressure
- You turn regular activity into measurable sales results
The reality of the role
This is not a role where every lead is ready to buy.
Some customers will need follow-up. Some will need reassurance. Some will say no. Some will delay. Your job is to stay organised, keep the conversation moving, and focus your time where there is genuine opportunity.
You will need to be comfortable with:
- Regular field-based work
- Speaking to new people
- Rejection and delayed decisions
- Managing your own time
- Working to targets
- Following a sales process
- Keeping records up to date
- Being accountable for your own performance
Who this role is likely to suit
This role may suit you if you:
- Enjoy meeting people face to face
- Are confident starting conversations
- Can work independently without daily supervision
- Are motivated by targets and results
- Like building relationships, not just chasing quick wins
- Can stay disciplined with follow-up
- Are comfortable learning a product or service properly
- Want a role where effort and performance are visible
Who this role is probably not for
This role is probably not right if you:
- Prefer office-based or phone-only sales
- Need every lead to be warm before taking action
- Dislike travel or field work
- Avoid follow-up when customers do not decide quickly
- Are uncomfortable working to targets
- Struggle to organise your own day
- Prefer a fixed routine where every day looks the same
Experience we are looking for
Field sales experience is useful, but attitude, discipline, and communication matter just as much.
We are especially interested in people who have experience in:
- Field sales
- Direct sales
- Door-to-door sales
- B2B sales
- Home improvement sales
- Energy, telecoms, utilities, property, construction, or similar sectors
- Customer-facing roles with strong commercial awareness
You do not need to know our industry already, but you must be willing to learn the product properly and explain it clearly to customers.
Requirements
You will need:
- A full UK driving licence
- Access to reliable transport, unless a company vehicle is provided
- Confidence speaking to customers face to face
- Good spoken English
- Basic ability to use a phone, CRM, spreadsheet, or sales tracking system
- Strong personal organisation
- A professional attitude when representing the company
Commission Only Pay Structure
We will explain the earning model clearly before interview so you can decide whether it fits what you are looking for.
How to apply
Before sending a full CV, we will ask you to complete a short role-fit check.
It takes around 3–5 minutes and helps both sides understand whether this role genuinely matches how you like to work.
There are no trick questions. The aim is to avoid wasting your time if the role is not right — and move quickly if it looks like a strong fit.
