Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Painter/Blaster who has experience applying intumescent paint, to join our dynamic team within a structural steel fabrication workshop. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing industrial surfaces through blasting and applying high-quality paint coatings to ensure durability and protection. Your energetic approach and commitment to safety will help us maintain the highest standards in industrial finishing projects. This position requires you to operate overhead cranes.
Duties
- Operate blasting equipment to clean and prepare surfaces for painting, ensuring removal of rust, old paint, and debris effectively
- Apply protective coatings using spray guns or brushes, following specified color codes and application techniques
- Inspect surfaces for defects or inconsistencies, making necessary adjustments to achieve smooth, even finishes
- Maintain safety protocols by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to environmental regulations during blasting and painting processes
- Coordinate with team members and supervisors to plan work schedules and ensure timely project completion
- Conduct routine maintenance on blasting and painting tools to ensure optimal performance
- Document work progress, materials used, and any issues encountered during projects for accurate reporting
Skills
- Proven experience in construction painting or industrial surface preparation
- Ability to operate blasting equipment safely and efficiently
- Strong communication skills in English for clear instructions and teamwork
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
- Basic understanding of safety standards related to blasting and painting operations
Pay: £19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 44.0 per week
