Neurodivergent Wellbeing Advisor - Andover area

£10,959.00 p.a based on 15 hours per week (Monday and Friday)

As one of Hampshire’s leading Mental Health Charities, Andover Mind is entering an exciting phase of growth to meet the needs of our communities around mental health and wellbeing support.

ROLE PURPOSE

This role is designed specifically for someone with lived experience of Autism, ADHD, or both. As a Neurodiversity Wellbeing Advisor, you will use your personal understanding of neurodivergence to support, empower and connect adults who may or may not have a formal diagnosis.

You will provide 1:1 wellbeing support, facilitate community groups, and help people build confidence, skills, and strategies to improve their quality of life. Your lived experience, insight and empathy will be central to how the service is shaped and delivered.

You will create safe, inclusive, non‑judgemental spaces where neurodivergent adults feel heard, understood, and supported—through a neuro‑affirming approach that celebrates strengths and identity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Support

- Provide strengths‑based 1:1 support to autistic and/or ADHD adults.

- Use your lived experience to offer relatable insight, emotional understanding and practical strategies.

- Support individuals to develop coping skills, self‑advocacy, and tools to enhance daily wellbeing.

Group Facilitation & Community Work

- Plan and lead welcoming, neuro‑affirming group sessions.

- Create inclusive spaces for connection and shared experience.

- Facilitate co‑production activities to help evolve the hub.

Collaboration & Service Delivery

- Work with internal teams to ensure smooth referral pathways.

- Build relationships with external partners and community stakeholders.

- Participate in awareness events.

Quality, Safety & Development

- Maintain knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, GDPR and neuro‑affirming practice.

- Gather feedback and case examples.

- Contribute to service planning and continuous improvement.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Qualifications

- Strong evidence of previous training or learning (formal or informal) which relates to supporting neurodivergent people.

- Ability to demonstrate skills required through lived and/or work experience.

Essential Experience

- Lived experience of Autism, ADHD, or both.

- Experience offering emotional or practical support.

- Experience facilitating groups or community‑based activity.

- Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships.

Essential Knowledge & Skills

- Strong understanding of neurodivergent experience.

- Awareness of professional boundaries and safeguarding.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to balance group and individual support.

- Good organisational skills.

- IT literacy including Microsoft Office and Teams.

- Understanding of confidentiality, GDPR and safe working.

Desirable Knowledge

- Knowledge of neuro‑affirming practice.

- Awareness of local services, resources and policy.
