Full job description

As the UK leader in blow moulding HDPE plastic bottle manufacturing, we are always on the lookout for motivated and ambitious employees to join our expanding team at our Head Office in Newport Pagnell.

Are you an experienced Automation Engineer looking to progress your career within a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We are looking for a hands-on engineer to work closely with the Site Director to coordinate projects including engineering design, quality planning, manufacturing, installation and commissioning.

Main duties:

Enhance the engineering standards through continuous improvements/modifications to optimise plant and machine performance.
Monitor the performance of machinery and equipment to be pro-active in avoiding downtime by initiating the necessary improvement measures prior to breakdown.
Design, develop and programme PLC and HMI control systems (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
Develop and install machine programmes using automation software.
Testing automated systems to ensure reliability, safety and efficiency.
Manage automation upgrades, installations and obsolescence programmes.
Maintain automation standards, documentation and system compliance.
Work closely with Engineering Team to assist with efficiency of equipment and product quality standards.
Troubleshoot system errors.
Train staff in process technology to enhance skill levels of automation systems on site.

Ideal candidate will have:

HNC, HND or degree level education in a relevant engineering discipline.
Minimum of 3 years' experience with PLCs, HMIs and motion/servo control systems.
Proven experience with electrical systems and automation environments.
Strong fault-finding, problem solving and organisational skills.
Excellent time management and communication skills.
Self-motivated, flexible and safety focussed.
Willing to travel to other sites and provide occasional out-of-hours support.

Pay: Up to £60,000.00 per year
