With over 40 years in niche media and events, Yandell Publishing combines sector expertise with a modern, multi-platform approach across magazines, websites, newsletters and live events.
We’re looking for an Associate Editor to join our team, working across our food & meat and travel & tourism brands.
The role
This is a varied, hands-on role that combines writing, project management, client liaison, administration and organisation.
You’ll be responsible for creating sponsored content and helping to manage special projects, including directories and annual publications. The successful applicant will work alongside and report to two of our senior editors, in addition to other staff as appropriate.
This role is ideal for someone who is commercially focussed and enjoys balancing creative work with detailed administrative tasks and thrives in a busy publishing environment with constant deadlines.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and deliver sponsored content that is booked by our advertisers and partners across print, digital and newsletters
- Liaise with clients to understand briefs and ensure objectives are met
- Write and edit high-quality sponsored articles and features (from a brief or from copy supplied that is polished and put into house style)
- Coordinate projects with editorial, design and production teams
- Ensure all content aligns with brand tone and editorial standards
- Assist in managing directories and annual publications, including:
- Updating and checking listings for accuracy
- Contacting companies to gather and verify information
- Organising large volumes of data and content
- Ensuring the final product meets commercial and editorial goals
- Contribute ideas for special features and new commercial opportunities
- Support the wider team with content-led projects where required
About you
- Strong writing and editing skills with excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable working on both creative content and structured, data-led projects
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Confident communicating with clients and colleagues
- Commercially aware, with an understanding of how content supports business goals
- Experience with CMS platforms or digital publishing tools
- Proactive, reliable and able to take ownership of your work
Who this role suits
This is a great opportunity for someone with editorial or content experience who enjoys variety—particularly if you like combining writing with organisation, project coordination and client interaction.
It won’t suit someone looking for a purely writing-focused or low-paced role.
What we offer
- Friendly, supportive team environment
- Generous holiday allowance, including your birthday off
- Group life insurance scheme
- Long service rewards
- Training and development opportunities
Application information
We will only contact applicants who are successful in obtaining an interview.
Address applications to Rob Yandell and please include a covering letter telling us why you’re interested in the position and what you can bring to the role and company.
Also attach or link to examples of your editorial work (published articles etc) or anything else you feel is relevant.
We look forward to hearing from you!
