About the role:
Southampton City Council have an exciting opportunity for two Strategic Data Analysts to join the Data, Intelligence and Insight Team within Southampton City Council. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering comprehensive and integrated intelligence and data analysis, to enable the Council to make decisions and manage its services based on a strong evidence base and a single version of the truth. The team is responsible for the development, production and presentation of highly complex advanced analysis and modelling for Education, Skills and Young People.
The role will be responsible for supporting Education, Skills and Young People with statutory data collections, developing detailed analysis including the creation and quality assurance of complex reports and dashboards from databases, combining multiple data sources, research and evidence to identify needs, trends, patterns and behaviours to influence decision making across the city.
The successful candidate will have degree or professional qualification in a relevant area and significant experience of working in an analytical role with a track record of with excellent numerical, research and range of analytical skills. As well as knowledge of data management and manipulation, information governance and reporting; visualisation and mapping, you will have knowledge of statistical techniques and procedures, including specialist knowledge of analytical tools and languages such as SQL, R, Power BI, GIS, Microsoft Office and other statistical software packages required for data input, analysis and presentation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and flexible individual, with excellent communication, presentation, research and analytical skills.
The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to express an interest in completing an appropriate apprenticeship, such as the Cambridge Spark L4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship.

Salary: The salary band for this role is £37,280 - £40,778 per annum. The starting salary is £37,280 with annual progression through the salary bands.
