Full job description

About the Role

As Practice Team Leader, you'll play a pivotal role ensuring Joint Legal Services operates efficiently, effectively and continues to evolve. Combining people leadership with system expertise, you'll have the opportunity to shape the way our department works, influence continuous improvement and support the delivery of an exceptional legal service.

Working closely with the Practice Manager and Senior Lawyers, you'll lead a dedicated Business Support Team while acting as the department's expert for the Legal Case Management System. From developing your team and improving workflows to producing management information and supporting departmental change, you'll play an integral role in ensuring our systems, processes and people are equipped for success. Your work will directly support the legal professionals who provide specialist legal advice and services across policing, ensuring they have the systems, information and support needed to deliver for the organisation.

Whether you're coaching colleagues, improving digital systems, embedding new ways of working or supporting strategic change. This role is for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership and wants to make a lasting difference.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop the Business Support Team, creating a positive, high-performing environment through coaching, performance management and continuous development.
Act as the department's superuser for the Legal Case Management System, ensuring it remains secure, effective and continuously evolves to meet the needs of the service.
Drive improvements to systems, workflows and business processes, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, enhance service delivery and support innovation across Joint Legal Services.
Produce accurate management information and insightful reports that enable informed decision-making and support operational performance.
Build trusted relationships with the Practice Manager, Senior Lawyers and wider stakeholders, providing expert advice and acting as the first point of contact for system and process-related matters.
Lead the training and onboarding of new and existing colleagues, ensuring staff have the knowledge and confidence to use systems and processes effectively.
Maintain and develop the department's SharePoint sites, intranet and digital resources, ensuring information remains accurate, accessible and up to date.
Support recruitment, and onboarding and departmental planning, helping to build an engaged, capable and well-equipped team.

Under the Probation Policy, if you are currently in your probation period, “during your probationary period you will not be permitted to apply for alternative police staff roles within the Force unless there are exceptional circumstances. The selection process for this role will consist of the following elements:

Important Information

Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon you successfully passing medical checks, which may if required include a drugs and hearing test.
