A K Industries is looking to recruit an experienced Tool Maker to join our in-house engineering and toolroom team.
AKI is a technical plastic injection moulding business supplying into sectors including life sciences, defence, water management, consumer products and industrial applications. We operate a busy moulding facility with a wide range of customer-owned injection mould tools, from small precision tools through to larger and more complex production tooling.
The Tool Maker role is a hands-on position focused on the maintenance, repair, modification and improvement of injection mould tools. The successful candidate will support production by diagnosing tooling issues, carrying out bench work, fitting, polishing, repairs and planned maintenance, as well as supporting engineering changes, trials and new product introduction activity.
We are looking for someone who can work accurately, take ownership of tooling issues, and communicate well with production, engineering, technical and quality teams. The role would suit a practical, experienced toolmaker who understands injection mould tooling and is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where tooling performance directly affects output, quality and delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out preventative maintenance, repairs and servicing of injection mould tools
- Diagnosing and resolving tooling faults affecting production, quality or cycle performance
- Supporting tool modifications, engineering changes and customer improvement projects
- Working closely with setters, technicians, engineers and quality to resolve moulding issues
- Maintaining good toolroom standards, records and safe working practices
- Supporting trials, NPI and tooling improvement activity where required
The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Tool Maker, Mould Toolmaker, Toolroom Engineer or similar, with a strong understanding of plastic injection mould tools. Experience with milling, grinding, fitting, polishing and general toolroom practices would be expected.
Hours:
37.5 hours per week
Monday to Thursday, 7:30am–4:00pm
Friday, 8:00am–2:00pm finish
