FCEW and TIG Welder
Job Overview
The FCEW and TIG Welder prepares, joins, repairs, and finishes metal components using Flux Cored Electric Welding and Tungsten Inert Gas welding methods. This role performs welding operations according to technical specifications, ensures quality craftsmanship, and maintains a safe, organized work environment.
Essential Duties
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and welding procedures.
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment for Flux Cored Electric Welding and Tungsten Inert Gas welding.
- Align, position, and clamp workpieces appropriately before welding.
- Monitor the welding process, adjust settings, and ensure precise and consistent welds.
- Examine completed welds for structural soundness and finish quality.
- Perform visual and measurement tests to confirm specifications are met.
- Prepare materials by cleaning, shaping, and fitting components.
- Remove rough spots, excess weld material, and clean weld areas after completion.
- Identify and correct weld defects.
- Maintain welding tools and safety equipment in good condition.
- Follow safety protocols and wear protective gear at all times.
- Keep records of work performed and materials used.
- Collaborate with supervisors and fabrication teams to achieve project goals.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Flux Cored Electric and Tungsten Inert Gas welder in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Demonstrated ability to follow technical drawings and welding instructions.
- Skilled in using hand and power tools related to welding and metalworking.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Good visual and spatial awareness.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to stand, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Welding certification or vocational training preferred.
