Location: The Jubilee Community Centre Norwich NR1 2EX
We need support for our popular saturday sessions and holiday activities.
Hours: Mainly Saturdays, 9:00am – 1:30pm (additional half term opportunities available)
Position Type: Volunteer (Unpaid)
Autism Explorers C.I.C is looking for caring, enthusiastic, and reliable volunteers to support our SEN stay-and-play sessions, activities, and events for autistic and disabled children and young people.
This is a rewarding opportunity to gain experience working within SEND services while making a real difference to families in the community.
Main Responsibilities
- Supporting autistic and disabled children during activities and play sessions
- Helping set up and tidy away equipment and resources
- Encouraging positive play, communication, and social interaction
- Assisting staff with arts and crafts, sensory play, outdoor play, and group activities
- Helping maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment
- Supporting children with additional needs on trips and special events when required
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Is patient, kind, and understanding
- Enjoys working with children and young people
- Can work well as part of a team
- Is happy to help with cleaning, tidying, and setting up activities
- Has a positive and caring attitude
- Is reliable and punctual
Experience & Qualifications
The following are helpful but not essential:
- Experience working with autistic children or children with additional needs
- Early Years, childcare, youth work, SEN, care, or education experience
- Relevant qualifications in childcare, health and social care, or SEND support
Training can be provided, and there may be opportunities to gain further qualifications and experience.
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS check required (or willingness to obtain one)
- Must be aged 16+
- Ability to support and supervise disabled children safely
