We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Dentist to take on a dual clinical and leadership role within PortmanDentex, York combining 2–3 days of clinical practice with dedicated time to lead, influence, and help shape the future direction of the team.

This is a unique opportunity to combine hands-on patient care while playing a central role in how high-quality care is delivered, how teams perform, and how the practice evolves. With two clear pathways available, you can shape your role in a way that aligns with how you want to lead and contribute.

Role Structure

• Work 2–3 days per week clinically within the practice as an Associate Dentist • Dedicate approximately 4 hours per week to leadership responsibilities within the Practice Clinical Lead function • Combine hands-on dentistry with protected time to support team development, clinical standards, and practice performance • Flexibility to shape your contribution depending on the pathway you choose and practice requirements

Shared Ownership Model

Take a meaningful stake in the practice and play a central role in its future.

• Become a partner through a simple, transparent shared ownership model • Share directly in the profitability and long-term success of the practice • Combine clinical leadership with commercial influence and decision-making • Shape the direction of the practice, from patient care to performance • Work as part of a wider group with the support, scale, and infrastructure of PortmanDentex

This pathway is designed for clinicians who want to become deeply invested in the success of a well-established community practice with strong patient relationships and long-term growth potential.

Practice Clinical Lead (PCL)

Step into a recognised clinical leadership role focused on care, standards, and team development.

• Work closely with the Practice Manager to drive performance and patient outcomes • Shape clinical standards, protocols, and the patient journey • Support, mentor, and develop the clinical team • Champion governance, best practice, and continuous improvement • Contribute to decision-making and strategic direction

This option is ideal for clinicians who want to influence and lead without taking on an ownership stake.

About You

• GDC-registered dentist with strong clinical experience • Natural leader who communicates with clarity and builds trust • Committed to high-quality, patient-centred care • Motivated to develop others and improve practice performance • Interested in shaping the future direction of the practice
