Company Overview

Owton's Butchers is a family-run business renowned for its quality meat products, operating multiple farm shops and a wholesale division across the south of. We are committed to tradition, quality, and community values.
Summary

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Production Supervisor to join our growing food manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in meat processing or food production who is passionate about leading people, maintaining high standards, and driving operational excellence.

As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of production, leading a team to achieve safety, quality, and productivity targets while maintaining the highest food safety standards.

Shift Pattern: 22:00 - 07:00 (Sunday to Thursday with 2 overtime Fridays per month, if needed) or 03:00-12:00 (Monday to Friday with 2 overtime Saturdays if required)

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and lead a team of production operatives within a busy meat processing environment.
Ensure production plans are achieved safely, efficiently, and to specification.
Maintain compliance with Food Safety, HACCP, SALSA, and Health & Safety standards.
Monitor product quality and ensure customer specifications are consistently met.
Drive productivity, minimise waste, and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
Conduct team briefings, performance reviews, and provide coaching and development.
Manage staffing levels, attendance, and shift performance.
Ensure accurate production records and documentation are completed.
Work closely with Technical, Engineering, Planning, and Warehouse teams to achieve operational objectives.
Promote a positive culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking ForEssential

Previous supervisory experience within a food manufacturing environment.
Experience in meat processing, meat packing, or fresh food production.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Good understanding of food safety legislation and quality systems.
Knowledge of HACCP principles.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Competent using Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.

Desirable

Food Safety Level qualification.
Health & Safety qualification (IOSH or equivalent).
Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
Experience working within a SALSA/BRCGS accredited site.
