Warwick Arts Centre is looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable, and technically skilled Assistant Theatre Technician with a Lighting Bias to join the team. If this sounds like somewhere you would like to work, we would like to hear from you.

You will be an active member of the technical team and play a pivotal role in bringing live events to life, supporting the delivery of all technical aspects of both our live programme and conference events. It is essential that you are a communicative, collaborative, positive and proactive individual.

In this role, you'll have a lighting bias whilst working as part of a multi-skilled technical team across all areas of the department. Your duties will include the rigging, focusing, programming and operation of lighting systems, together with supporting stage fit-ups, load ins, get outs, sound and AV operations as required. Your primary responsibility will be to uphold the highest standards of technical presentation for all events while maintaining a keen awareness of health and safety regulations.

You will also assist with the timely maintenance of all technical equipment across our performance, cinema, conference and rehearsal spaces, with a particular focus on lighting and electrical systems. You will support the inspection, testing and maintenance of installations and equipment to ensure compliance with current legislation and licensing requirements.

Flexibility is key in the event industry, and you'll need to be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Please note a 5% availability allowance is included in the advertised salary scale.

About You

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced lighting technician with a passion for technical theatre and live events to join a multi-skilled Technical team.

You will have significant professional experience working in theatre or live event environments, with strong knowledge of theatrical lighting systems, rigging, focusing, programming and lighting operations

We are looking for someone who works well independently and as part of a team, who can remain calm under pressure and is motivated to deliver the highest standards for visiting artists, companies and audiences.

You will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational and people management skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships across departments and with external clients.

You will have experience in a theatrical lighting environment and have a practical approach to problem solving and a strong understanding of health and safety requirements within technical theatre environments. Experience interpreting lighting plans and technical drawings and using theatre-related software packages would be advantageous.

Warwick Arts Centre is a department of the University, and the successful candidate will be employed by the University of Warwick.
