Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Butchery Counter Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the butchery department by assisting with food preparation, maintaining high standards of food safety, and delivering excellent customer service. This role offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills within a professional environment, contributing to the smooth operation of our retail or restaurant setting.

Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation and presentation of meat products, ensuring quality standards are met.
Support the butchery team in cutting, trimming, and packaging meat items efficiently and safely.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area in accordance with food safety regulations.
Serve customers courteously, providing information on products and upselling where appropriate.
Ensure proper storage of meat products, adhering to temperature controls and hygiene protocols.
Assist with stock management, including inventory checks and replenishment of supplies.
Follow all health and safety guidelines to minimise risks within the workspace.

Experience

Previous experience in food preparation or a restaurant environment is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.
Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is desirable.
Basic maths skills for handling transactions and measurements are required.
Experience in kitchen or culinary roles will be beneficial for understanding food handling practices.
Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods.
Experience in serving customers and upselling products will be considered an asset.
