Position Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Integration Developer to join our IT team here at Barbour House in South Shields during an exciting period of modernisation. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining enterprise-level integrations that connect our cloud and on-premise systems, B2B partners, and ecommerce channels. Focusing on the Microsoft integration stack, specifically SQL Server and SSIS, you will ensure reliable data movement across the entire Barbour ecosystem. This role is ideal for a technical problem-solver who enjoys working with data pipelines and modern API technologies to support a global retail brand.
*The expectation for this role is 4 days onsite and 1 day of home working*
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Development & Maintenance: Design, build and maintain integrations primarily utilising Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server.

Database Integration: Develop and optimise complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and SSIS ETL packages to support robust data pipelines.

System Connectivity: Implement seamless data flows between internal systems, cloud platforms and external trading partners.

API Management: Support integration efforts by building and consuming APIs utilising REST, SOAP, JSON and XML.

Testing & Support: Perform unit and integration testing while providing 2nd and 3rd level support for database errors and integration failures.

Documentation: Maintain technical specifications, data mappings and interface documentation.

Collaboration: Participate in design discussions with architects and work closely with project managers and external vendors in an agile environment.

Skills and Experience:
- Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Microsoft SQL Server.

Database Expertise: Advanced SQL skills, including performance optimisation, indexing strategies and complex data transformation.

Integration Knowledge: Solid understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and enterprise integration patterns.

Problem Solving: Ability to convert complex business requirements into technical designs and troubleshoot across various databases and middleware.

Tools: Experience using Azure DevOps, Git, Jira and Confluence within an Agile delivery framework.

Education: Computer Science degree or equivalent professional training and experience.

Sector Knowledge: Experience in apparel, fashion or retail is considered a distinct advantage.
