The post holder will provide specialist physiotherapy assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for patients diagnosed with cancer who are undergoing prehabilitation prior to surgery.
The role involves leading and delivering evidence-based exercise and rehabilitation programmes aimed at improving patients’ physical fitness, functional capacity, wellbeing, and recovery outcomes before treatment begins. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary prehabilitation team alongside oncology clinicians, dietitians, nursing teams and health coaches.

To carry out assessment of patients and maintain accurate patient records; use clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of evidence based practice to formulate appropriate rehabilitation plans utilising a range of treatment skills and options, which includes gym-based or home-based rehabilitation/pre-habilitation.
Provide evidence-based interventions to optimise patients prior to cancer treatment.
Deliver education and advice regarding physical activity, lifestyle modification, exercise adherence, and recovery expectations.
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
Participate in outpatient, community, virtual, and group-based rehabilitation programmes where required
To support the health coaches and provide weekly supervision
Attend regional pre-habilitation meetings.

To deliver Physiotherapy treatment for a complex caseload within a specialist field.
To provide highly specialised physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
To provide clinical education, supervision and support to staff and students within the speciality area.
To provide specialist advice to families, carers, other health and social care professionals and/or education services.
To contribute to planning, development and auditing of the Physiotherapy service within the specialist area.
To supervise qualified & unqualified staff within the specialist team.
