Job Description
Snazzy’s Dry Cleaning, Laundry & Alterations is looking for an experienced Seamstress / Tailor to join our busy and growing alterations department in Westerhope, Newcastle upon Tyne.
We are looking for someone with professional alterations experience who can confidently carry out a wide range of clothing alterations and repairs to a high standard.
This is a hands-on role with a regular and varied workload, ranging from everyday clothing alterations through to dresses, suits and occasionwear.
Main Responsibilities
- Shortening trousers, jeans, dresses, skirts and sleeves
- Taking garments in and letting them out
- Waist and trouser alterations
- Replacing zips
- Altering dresses and occasionwear
- Jacket and coat alterations
- General clothing repairs
- Working with a variety of fabrics and garment types
- Using industrial sewing machines and overlockers
- Ensuring all work is finished neatly and to a high standard
Bridal and bridesmaid alteration experience would be an advantage, but is not essential.
What We're Looking For
Previous professional sewing or clothing alterations experience is essential.
The successful candidate should:
- Be confident carrying out alterations independently
- Have good sewing and garment construction knowledge
- Be comfortable using industrial sewing machines
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Produce consistently high-quality work
- Be reliable and organised
- Be able to work efficiently in a busy alterations environment
- Work well as part of a small, friendly team

Our alterations department handles a large and varied volume of work, and we are looking for an experienced seamstress or tailor to strengthen our existing team.
