Permanent, part-time position
Salary £30,196.62 per annum for 29 hours per week
Downing College is seeking a motivated individual to join our small and friendly Bursary team in a varied and fulfilling role, contributing to a diverse and rewarding range of responsibilities.
Some of your duties will include:

Processing the payroll for Fellows, staff, casuals and academic supervisions, ensuring accuracy of hours worked, deductions, benefits and payments.

Processing off-payroll payments to academics and other Colleges.

Ensuring that PAYE, NI, and pension monies are paid over monthly and the pension reporting is completed within the given timescale.

Completing monthly statutory payments, such as SMP and SSP.

Ensuring that the payroll end-of-year statutory requirements is completed accurately and within given timescales, including Benefits in Kind.

Assisting in the reconciliation of payroll accounts and preparing reports as needed.

Supporting the annual payroll audit, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

Collaborating with the HR department to ensure seamless integration of payroll and personnel data.
To be considered for this role, you will need to:

Have a minimum 5 GCSE's grade A - C, including English and Mathematics.

Have previous experience in payroll processing or a similar financial role.

Be proficient in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Have a strong understanding of GDPR and HMRC Legislation.

Have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Be friendly and approachable.
Details of the role
The post of Payroll Officer is a permanent, part-time role, working 29 hours per week. These hours are expected to be worked over 4 days, starting at 9.00am and finishing at 4.45pm with an unpaid 30-minute lunch break (although there is potential for a degree of flexibility on start/finish times). Applications are invited from suitably experienced candidates.
The annual salary is £30,196.62 per annum for 29 hours per week. This is based on the full-time equivalent salary of £37,746 per annum (Step 48 on the College Salary Scale).
