Type: Contract
Location: Various schools throughout Caerphilly CBC
Start date: ASAP
Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm
Pay: MPS & UPS

Elementa Support Services is working in partnership with secondary schools to recruit passionate and skilled Teachers of English. This is an exciting opportunity for dedicated educators who are committed to inspiring students through literature, language, and communication, and who want to make a meaningful impact in the classroom.

The Role

As a Teacher of English, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality English lessons that engage, challenge, and support learners of varying abilities. You will play a key role in developing students’ reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with the national curriculum
Teach across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)
Assess, track, and report on student progress
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all learners
Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management
Work collaboratively with colleagues and school leadership

Essential Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching English in UK secondary schools
Enhanced DBS Disclosure (or willingness to apply – cost £64.20 unless subscribed to the Update Service)
Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration in the appropriate categories
Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English education

Recruitment & Safeguarding

All applications will be managed by Elementa Support Services as the recruitment partner for this client. Elementa is committed to the safeguarding of children in all of its processes, and all successful applicants will undergo a full pre-screen to assess their suitability for the role.

Any appointment will be subject to:

A successful interview process
Satisfactory references
Safeguarding & PREVENT training
EWC registration in the appropriate categories
Enhanced DBS Disclosure
Successful completion of a 12-week / 60 paid day employment trial period

ELEMENTA CANDIDATE COMMITMENT

Weekly pay – no waiting for monthly payroll cut-off dates; Elementa pays one week in lieu
PAYE contract – unless specifically requested otherwise, giving the protections of a traditional employer-employee relationship
Training & Support – access to a broad range of free or heavily discounted training including Safeguarding, Behaviour, Team Teach, SEND, Makaton, and Thrive
Dedicated Candidate Manager – regular welfare contact and ongoing support
Fair Pay Policy – paid to scale; any variation will be agreed in writing prior to placement
Additional support services – access to partner services including tax returns, accountancy, legal advice, and more

Not currently based in the UK
Requiring employer sponsorship for UK right to work
Without experience in UK schools
