Lougher Contemporary is an online contemporary art gallery based in Bristol. We buy and sell editions by the most recognised names in contemporary art, offering collectors carefully curated works with a focus on quality, knowledge, and service.

About the role
We’re looking for a personable, highly organised individual to own the post-sale process, from invoice through to final delivery.
This is a hands-on, responsive role at the heart of client service. You’ll work closely with our collectors, providing the best possible buying and selling experience, as well as collaborating with our sales and acquisitions teams. You’ll assess risk appropriately, maintaining import/export and Anti-Money Laundering compliance and ensuring that all artworks arrive safely at their destinations.
This role is likely to evolve over the next year as our systems and processes develop, so we're looking for someone comfortable with change. There is scope for this role to be extended beyond the first year.
What you’ll be doing
Invoicing & credit control – Supporting the sales team, you’ll prepare invoices/sales contracts for clients, maintain accurate sales records and track inbound funds.
Anti-Money Laundering – AML due diligence for HMRC is a vital part of operating as a UK gallery. You’ll be responsible for undertaking checks with the sales team, with oversight from the Managing Director.
Logistics & Artwork Movement – You’ll keep artworks moving smoothly, coordinating with collectors, fine art specialists/suppliers and our in-house team, maintaining accurate paperwork and staying up to date with HMRC legislation and customs changes.
CRM & Stock Management – You’ll maintain accurate CRM and artwork records, owning data accuracy and cleanliness.
Post-Sale Customer Service – you’ll keep clients in the loop about their purchases, and you’ll handle any issues calmly and efficiently, and share learnings with the team.

Experience
- 2-3 years’ experience in operations, administration or a client-facing business environment
- Professional and confident manner when interacting with buyers, collectors, specialists and colleagues over email, in person or on the phone
- Keen risk and commercial awareness, being able to identify and mitigate risks appropriately
- Exemplary customer service, always understanding client expectations and maintaining a positive buyer and seller experience
Skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with proven experience managing competing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with meticulous attention to detail
- Strong financial literacy and numeracy skills
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, comfortable with cloud-based tools and able to pick up new systems quickly
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team
Desirable
- 2+ years’ experience working in a commercial gallery
- Knowledge of the contemporary art market, particularly stock and consignments for the secondary market
- Online or in-person sales experience
- Understanding of Anti-Money Laundering/Know Your Client responsibilities and due diligence platforms, like Arcarta
- Good knowledge and understanding of international fine art logistics, including import/export customs requirements and procedures, and fine art packing
- Experience with finance administration and payment processes, and understanding of the UK margin scheme
- Experience using and developing a CRM
- Experience of using a collections or stock management system
- Confidence to identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions
- Awareness of AI tools with proven application to improve productivity
