Are you looking to build a career in residential land and development?
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Land Buyer to join Hill’s Land team, supporting our Head of Land and Land Director in identifying, assessing and progressing new land opportunities. This role is very much a supporting role.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone in the early stages of their land or property career who wants to gain hands-on experience within a successful residential developer. You’ll work across live land opportunities, gaining exposure to the full acquisition process and developing the commercial, planning and technical knowledge needed to progress towards a Land Buyer role.
Working closely with our experienced Land team, you will:
Research and assess potential land opportunities, helping the team decide which sites to progress.
Support the preparation of land offers, development appraisals, approval papers and presentations.
Gather and analyse information relating to planning, title, access, infrastructure, environmental and technical matters.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across Planning, Technical, Commercial, Sales, Development and Legal.
Monitor planning applications, competing developments, land transactions and local market activity.
Attend site visits and meetings with agents, consultants and other industry contacts.
Maintain accurate site information, key dates, actions and reporting.
Support development appraisals, sensitivity testing and comparable evidence.
Help coordinate internal and external meetings, taking ownership of actions and ensuring agreed tasks are progressed.
Build your knowledge of the regional land market and develop your professional network.
You may already have some experience within residential development, property, planning, land agency or a related sector, and are now looking for an opportunity where you can develop your career within Land.
We’re looking for someone who is:
Commercially minded, numerate and comfortable working with data and financial information.
Confident using Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to research and gather information quickly and thoughtfully from online sources.
Able to review information, identify key points and communicate them clearly.
Organised, professional and highly attentive to detail.
Personable and confident working with colleagues, agents and consultants.
Task and results driven, with the ability to manage deadlines and follow actions through to completion.
Curious, proactive and keen to learn.
Interested in residential development and the process of identifying and acquiring land.
You don't need to know everything from day one. What is important is that you have the commercial awareness, analytical ability and drive to learn and develop your career in residential land.
