We are actively seeking a Mechanical Estimating Manager to join our team in Banbridge!
| KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |
Tender Review & Estimate Development
- Review and interpret tender documentation, ensuring scope, risks, assumptions, exclusions and opportunities are identified and communicated to the Bid Manager and wider bid team.
- Allocate tenders across the estimating team, ensuring appropriate resource and workload balance to deliver high-quality estimates on time.
- Ensure the Estimating team prepare tender deliverables in line with client and Invitation to Tender (ITT) requirements and internal procedures.
- Review, challenge and approve (internally) estimates prepared by the estimating team to ensure accuracy, consistency, compliance and alignment with company estimating standards prior to internal adjudication with the Bid Manager.
- Challenge pricing assumptions, exclusions, risk allowances, and value engineering proposals.
Estimate Quality & Governance
- Maintain oversight of estimating systems ensuring data accuracy.
- Ensure estimating activities are conducted in accordance with company procedures and risk governance requirements.
- Attend and contribute to pre-tender, mid-tender, bid reviews, progress updates and adjudications.
- Support internal and external audits relating to estimating activities.
Stakeholder & Supply Chain Engagement
- Work with the Procurement Department to support the mechanical supply chain strategy by maintaining and developing relationships with preferred suppliers, specialist subcontractors and supply and fit subcontractors/partners, ensuring competitive and reliable supply chain engagement during tender activities.
- Collaborate with pre-construction, design, commercial, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates are aligned and meet client and company requirements.
- Support senior estimators in resolving complex technical and commercial supply chain issues.
- Represent the business at mid‑tender, post‑tender, and key client meetings where required.
Post Tender & Handover
- Support bid adjudications and senior management reviews presenting estimating assumptions, risk allowances, exclusions and pricing recommendations.
- Support the Bid Manager with post-tender clarifications, value engineering proposals and revised pricing requirements, ensuring estimating outputs remain accurate, commercially robust and aligned with client requirements.
- Contribute to post-bid reviews and implement agreed improvements within the estimating function to enhance estimating quality, consistency and tender performance.
Leadership & Development
- Lead, manage and develop the mechanical estimating team, setting objectives, monitoring performance and building capability through coaching, mentoring and structured development.
- Provide technical and commercial leadership across the estimating team and act as the primary point of escalation for complex mechanical estimating and tender-related matters.
- Identify training and development needs across the estimating team and support initiatives that improve individual and team performance.
| QUALIFICATIONS |
Essential
- Relevant qualification in building services, construction, engineering or a related discipline - whether through degree, HNC/HND, apprenticeship, trade background, or equivalent vocational route.

| EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE |
Essential
- 5+ years’ experience in the building services and/or construction industry gained through estimating, engineering, trade or other relevant technical roles.
- Extensive technical and commercial knowledge of mechanical building services systems.
- Demonstrable experience preparing and reviewing mechanical estimates within a building services or construction environment.
Desirable
- Experience managing Senior Estimators, Estimators or other technical estimating personnel.
- Proven estimating experience within an M&E environment.

- Strong commercial awareness including pricing, risk, and value engineering.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks to tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
- Strong IT skills with working knowledge of estimating/bid software.
- Ability to travel throughout the UK and Ireland for meetings.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Ability to use company software packages, such as 4Projects and Amtech.
