Full job description

We are a well-established family-run business operating both a busy hardware and building supplies outlet and a private residential construction division specialising in one-off new build homes.

We are seeking a motivated, organised, and customer-focused individual to join our team. This is a varied role that combines customer sales, yard operations, stock management, purchasing, and supplier liaison. The successful candidate will become an important part of our day-to-day operations and help ensure the smooth running of both the hardware and building sides of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Serving and assisting trade and domestic customers.
Processing sales and handling customer enquiries.
Managing stock levels within the hardware shop and yard.
Purchasing hardware products, building materials, and construction supplies.
Sourcing materials for private new build housing projects.
Developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Receiving and checking deliveries.
Assisting customers with loading and collections.
Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe yard and retail environment.
Supporting the wider team with day-to-day business operations.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience in hardware, builders’ merchants, construction supplies, or a similar industry.
Good knowledge of building materials, tools, and hardware products.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Comfortable dealing with customers, tradespeople, and suppliers.
Ability to work independently and use initiative.
Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a small, hardworking team.
Forklift licence desirable but not essential.
