Transport & Logistics Manager

About the Role
Envirogreen is a growing business providing business across the island and in UK with an innovative approach to managing their waste, focusing on prevention, re-use and recycling helping to create circular economy solutions. As our business continues to grow, we are looking to recruit an experienced Transport & Logistics Manager to lead our transport operation from our Newry site. This is a key leadership position within our business, responsible for ensuring our transport function operates safely, efficiently and in full compliance with all relevant legislation in both NI and ROI.
All Road Vehicles are Scania or Mercedes, are less than 4 years old and part of full maintenance packages.
We are looking for someone who will oversee the day-to-day management of transport operations, providing positive leadership whilst seeking to achieve continuous improvement, maintaining excellent service standards and supporting the delivery of business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting into senior management, you will take ownership of the transport and logistics function, ensuring optimal operational performance and regulatory compliance are consistently achieved.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, motivating and supporting a team of HGV Drivers, Helpers, Transport Planner and Transport Administration staff and Operations teams.
- Supporting Planner to coordinate daily vehicle schedules, driver allocations and transport resources to maximise operational efficiency and customer service.
- Daily meetings with Planner and Operations Team to ensure sufficient supply of material for processing is incoming and booking loads out in an efficient manner.
- Regulations, Working Time legislation and all relevant transport legislation.
- Monitoring driver performance and ensuring all transport activities are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Managing transport compliance processes, investigating non-conformances and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and accurately recorded using company compliance systems.
- Overseeing quality control processes by identifying quality or contamination issues within commodity types collected and communicating to necessary personnel.
- Investigating customer complaints and transport-related issues, ensuring appropriate resolutions are implemented promptly.
- Analysing expenditure and identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Liaise with contractors for all aspects of Road and Non Road Vehicle requirements and third parties carrying out services on our behalf.
- Supporting the review, development and implementation of transport policies, procedures and Safe Systems of Work.
- Investigating transport incidents and accidents, completing reports and ensuring lessons learned are incorporated into future operations.
- Carry out daily driver checks to ensure compliance with Driver Qualification Cards (DQC) and Digital Tachograph Cards.
- Monitoring fleet maintenance schedules to ensure servicing, inspections and vehicle compliance requirements are completed on time.
- Provide ongoing training and relevant updates to all relevant staff.
- Supporting recruitment requirements
- Creating a positive working culture through effective leadership, coaching and employee engagement.
- Promoting a strong health and safety culture and ensuring compliance with all company policies.
Essential Criteria
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A valid Transport Manager CPC qualification.
- A minimum of two years' management or supervisory experience within a transport, logistics or transport compliance environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge of UK transport legislation, including Drivers' Hours Regulations and transport compliance requirements.
- Experience managing transport compliance and regulatory obligations.
- Strong leadership, organisational and people management skills.
- Experience using transport compliance and Transport Management systems.
- Proven track record of multi tasking and prioritising daily workload effectively.
- A positive attitude and willingness to undertake all reasonable duties associated with the role.
Desirable Criteria
It would be advantageous if you have:
- Class 1 & 2 Drivers Licence
- Basic mechanical and commercial knowledge of common parts and repairs
- Knowledge of Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland transport networks
- Knowledge of applicable regulations in both jurisdictions
- Experience of negotiating with contractors and other third parties

Pay: £40,000.00-£47,500.00 per year
