Full job description

A rapidly growing accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper to support our expanding client base. We are flexible and welcome applications from candidates seeking either part-time or full-time employment.

This is an office-based role and would suit a reliable, detail-oriented individual who is comfortable working independently and managing bookkeeping and accounts preparation for a variety of clients.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare and submit VAT returns
Assist with the preparation of management accounts and financial reports
Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
Prepare working papers and supporting schedules for accounts production
Liaise with clients and the wider team to ensure deadlines are met

Requirements

Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounts administration, or a similar role within an accountancy practice
Experience preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
Strong working knowledge of Xero (experience with QuickBooks, Sage, or other cloud accounting software is advantageous)
Good understanding of VAT returns, bank reconciliations, and management accounts
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple client deadlines efficiently
Good communication and client-facing skills
