Full-Time or Part-Time | £28,000–£30,000 FTE depending on experience
We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Lettings Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join our busy estate agency team.
This is a varied role with responsibility for both lettings/client accounting and our company trading accounts, so we are ideally looking for someone who already has experience working within lettings or estate agency accounts and understands the importance of accuracy, compliance and keeping on top of deadlines.
We can offer the position on either a full-time or part-time basis, making it suitable both for someone looking for a full-time accounts position and someone seeking professional hours that fit around school commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Lettings & Client Accounts
- Processing and allocating rent payments
- Managing rent runs and payments to landlords
- Monitoring rent arrears and chasing outstanding payments
- Reconciling rent and client accounts
- Managing tenancy deposits, including registration and administration
- Dealing with landlord and tenant account queries
- Maintaining accurate landlord and tenant financial records
- Preparing overseas landlord reports and tax returns
- Completing relevant HMRC reporting and submissions
- Ensuring client accounting records are accurate, compliant and kept up to date
Company / Trading Accounts
- Day-to-day bookkeeping for the business
- Raising company invoices and monitoring outstanding balances
- Chasing overdue invoices and payments
- Processing supplier invoices and payments
- Reconciling business bank accounts
- Reconciling company credit and charge cards
- Maintaining accurate purchase and sales ledger records
- Assisting with month-end processes
- Preparing financial information and records for our accountant
- Maintaining organised supporting documentation and financial records
- General accounts and finance support to the wider business
About You
We are looking for someone who is confident, accurate and comfortable taking ownership of the day-to-day accounts function.
Ideally, you will have previous experience within lettings or estate agency accounts, including rent processing, client accounting and deposit management. You should also have experience with general business/trading accounts and bookkeeping and be comfortable dealing with HMRC reporting requirements.
You will need to be confident communicating with landlords, tenants, suppliers and colleagues and be comfortable professionally chasing outstanding rents and payments when required.
Ideally, You Will Have
- Previous lettings / estate agency accounts experience
- Experience processing rents and managing client accounts
- Knowledge of tenancy deposit registration and management
- Experience dealing with rent arrears
- Experience with overseas landlord reporting and tax returns
- Knowledge or experience of HMRC reporting
- Bookkeeping and trading accounts experience
- Bank and credit/charge card reconciliation experience
- Good knowledge of accounting software and Excel
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Confidence working independently and taking ownership of your workload
- A professional and proactive approach
Hours
We can offer flexibility depending on the successful candidate:
Full-Time:
Monday to Friday 8:45am–5:30pm
OR
Part-Time / School Hours:
Monday to Friday 9:30am–2:30pm
Salary
£28,000–£30,000 per annum, depending on experience. Salary will be pro rata for part-time hours.
