The Role:
Mersen UK Teesside Ltd are currently recruiting for two experienced CNC Turners - Setters/Operators to join our busy Teesside Graphite Speciality (TGS) department. This is an excellent opportunity to join a global company with development opportunities available. As CNC Turner Setter/Operator, you will be expected to work to specifications and tooling instructions, applying knowledge of machining methods. Further, you will be expected to read drawings and routings for product specifications. Main duties of the role include:
To ensure the CNC lathe is set and ran to its maximum capacity. Ensuring, if possible, all programs are written in advance of production start if possible.
Preparation of the next available job prior to setting.
Sets up and adjusts machine tools for other workers, such as machine runner.
Works to specifications and tooling instructions, applying knowledge of machining methods:
Reads drawings and routings for product specifications. Such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions, such as feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cut, fixtures, and cutting tools to be used.
Installs and adjusts holding device and fastens specified cutting and shaping tools in position to enable operator to produce finished work piece to specifications.
Using CNC control selects and sets speed and feed of machine according to type of operation and specified material and finish.
Starts machine to obtain first-run work piece and verifies dimensional tolerances, using micrometers, gauges, and templates.
Changes worn cutting tools and adjusted operation of machine, such as cutting speed, feed rate, or depth of cut, when required.
Re-cycle all tooling in line with current company’s system/procedures 7W.
May instruct operators, or other workers in machine setup and operation.
Will set all machines and equipment within in specified zone.
Ensures job is booked out of his/her area after completion.
Lifts, moves, clamps, and bolts chuck/fixtures on machines, using hand tools.
Cleans machine.
To ensure all customer requirements internal and external are achieved.
Be able to read all measuring equipment.
Compares work piece to drawing and specification to verify conformance.
Person Specification:
It’s essential that applicants have have programming/setting skills in FANUC or HURCO control.
It would be desirable if candidates had experience in a graphite environment but is not a mandatory requirement, training will be given in the strategies used to cut that material to the ideal candidate.
Candidates must be educated to atleast GCSE level (Grade 4/C or above) in English and Mathematics or hold relevant equivalent qualifications.
