The Opportunity
Due to continued growth and investment within our Industrial Engineering function, we are creating two new Process Technician positions to support NPI projects, manufacturing improvements, and the introduction of new equipment and processes across our Plymouth facility.
These are excellent opportunities for hands-on, technically minded individuals who enjoy problem-solving, working with manufacturing equipment, and making a real impact on operational performance. As a newly created role, you will have the opportunity to help shape processes, support business growth, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives from the outset
As a Process Technician, you will take ownership of setting up, running and optimising manufacturing processes to achieve quality, safety and performance targets. You will play a key role in supporting production, new product introduction (NPI), troubleshooting process issues and driving operational improvements across the shop floor
Key Responsibilities
- Setting up, adjusting and maintaining machines, tooling and production equipment.
- Conducting hands-on troubleshooting and fault-finding activities to resolve process or equipment issues.
- Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and investment projects.
- Carrying out process trials, line set-ups and product changeovers.
- Using hand tools, workshop equipment and measuring instruments safely and effectively.
- Creating and maintaining work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and engineering documentation.
- Supporting process improvement initiatives to increase quality, efficiency and productivity.
- Working with Process Engineers to ensure equipment and manufacturing processes meet capability requirements.
- Collecting and analysing manufacturing data to support process improvements.
- Participating in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and 6S activities.
- Supporting root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping across the shop floor.
- Collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Production, Maintenance and Supply Chain teams to achieve operational objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English. (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience working within a manufacturing, production or engineering environment.
- Hands-on experience working with machinery, tools, equipment or assembly processes.
- Experience following technical procedures, work instructions or standard operating procedures.
- Experience identifying and resolving operational or process-related issues.
Desirable
- BTEC Level 3 in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement training
- Experience supporting process improvement or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
- Experience using measuring equipment and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Welding, fabrication or workshop experience.
- Basic CAD knowledge.
