Process Chemist – Manufacturing & Process (Explosives / Energetics)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Chemist to join a highly regulated manufacturing environment, supporting the production of specialist chemical and energetic materials.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a hands-on, site-based role combining laboratory analysis with direct involvement in manufacturing, process improvement, and product development.
The Role
You will play a key role in ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in line with strict quality and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting chemical and physical testing of raw materials and finished products
- Supporting manufacturing operations with technical expertise and process monitoring
- Investigating quality issues, deviations, and non-conformances
- Assisting with product development, trials, and continuous improvement projects
- Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Producing technical reports and supporting audits and inspections
This role offers a strong mix of laboratory work and on-the-ground production support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys a varied and practical position.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or similar
- At least 3 years’ experience within a laboratory or manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in regulated or hazardous environments (desirable)
- Knowledge of process safety, quality systems, or continuous improvement (advantageous)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider operational team
- Full UK driving licence
Experience within industries such as chemicals, manufacturing, mining, defence, or other high-risk environments would be highly beneficial.
