Full job description

We are seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our GP Practice team. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a valuable role in ensuring the delivery of an exceptional service to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide general assistance to the entire Practice Team; both clinical and non-clinical. Reporting directly to the Practice Manager.

· Project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

· Provide Care Navigation for patients in a courteous and efficient way.

· Liaise with other health care professionals in primary and secondary care.

· Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice both via telephone and in person. Duties include scanning, processing prescriptions, mail handling, scheduling appointments, accurate record keeping, data entry, relaying results and answering patient queries. These may vary from time to time to suit the needs of the practice.

· Engage and keep up to date with practice policies and procedures, particularly confidentiality, Data Protection and GDPR.

· Cover annual leave and sick leave where necessary.

Essential Criteria

4 or more GCSEs or equivalent grades A-C (to include Maths and English) or equivalent
Efficacy in Microsoft computer systems
Previous administration experience
Excellent communication skills
Enthusiastic and hard working
Highly organised, able to prioritise workload and work under pressure
Work well as part of a team as well as independently
Dependable and flexible

Desirable Criteria

· Experience working in a GP Surgery

· Experience in Emis Web clinical system
