Job summary:

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients, building trusted client relationships, and supporting the development of junior team members. Main Duties may include but not limited to:
- Manage a portfolio of clients across a range of industries, building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Prepare and review annual statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
- Prepare and review management accounts, providing clients with meaningful financial insights.
- Prepare and submit Corporation Tax, Self-Assessment, VAT, and other tax returns as required.
- Review bookkeeping and accounting records to ensure accuracy and compliance with current legislation and accounting standards.
- Provide proactive accounting, tax, and business advice to clients, identifying opportunities to add value.
- Support clients with budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial planning where appropriate.
- Liaise with HMRC and other external bodies on behalf of clients.
- Assist with tax planning and compliance projects.
- Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and within agreed deadlines.
- Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior team members, providing guidance and support for their development.
- Assist with the onboarding of new clients and contribute to business development opportunities.
- Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, systems, and internal controls.
- Keep up to date with changes in accounting standards, tax legislation, and industry best practice.
- Support the directors with practice management, client meetings, and strategic projects as required.
- Contribute to the continued growth and success of the firm through excellent client service and collaborative teamwork.
The candidate:
- ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification (or be qualified by experience).
- A minimum of 3–5 years' experience within an accountancy practice.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax compliance.
- Experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and tax returns for a varied client portfolio.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
- A proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach to your work.
- High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
- The ability to manage your own workload, prioritise effectively, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting junior team members.
- Confidence using cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage, together with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and keeping up to date with changes in legislation and best practice.

What we offer:
- Salary £40,0000–£60,000 depending on experience
- Full time, 37.5 hours per week
