There's something genuinely satisfying about watching a group of young musicians who started the lesson slightly unsure of themselves leave sounding like a band.
Helping students listen to each other, solve musical problems together, and perform songs they're proud of is what this role is all about.
Drummers Link Music School is looking for two exceptional Band Performance Coaches to join our growing team this September.
This is a regular weekly position leading our hugely popular BandMates programme, where young musicians rehearse together every week before performing at showcases, community events and our annual music festival, LinkFest.

What You'll Be Doing
Every week you'll lead a number of 45-minute band rehearsals, coaching groups of up to six young musicians.
You'll help students:
- Learn and workshop popular songs
- Develop tight arrangements
- Improve timing, listening and teamwork
- Build confidence performing with others
- Prepare for live performances throughout the year
Every band is different, so you'll be constantly adapting arrangements, solving musical problems and helping students perform at their very best.
This isn't standing at the front of a classroom delivering from a workbook - it's making music.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who can confidently take charge of a rehearsal and inspire young musicians.
You should be comfortable:
- Coaching guitarists, bassists, keyboard players, drummers and singers
- Demonstrating parts where needed
- Adapting parts for a range of abilities
- Helping students of mixed abilities perform together
- Leading rehearsals independently
- Creating a positive, energetic atmosphere
You don't need to be a virtuoso on every instrument. But you should understand how modern rock and pop bands work and be confident supporting each section of the band.
Essential Requirements
We're looking for professionals who have:
- A music degree or substantial professional performing experience
- At least 2 years' experience teaching groups or classes (not solely one-to-one tuition)
- Strong working knowledge of guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and vocals
- Experience directing ensembles, bands or group rehearsals
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- A recent Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport
- Right to work in the UK

Hours
We're currently recruiting for Monday and Tuesday evenings, with approximately 4-8 hours available initially, increasing as the programme continues to grow.
Ideally we'd like to appoint two tutors, with one primarily covering each evening.
Pay
£20-£24 per hour
Dependent upon qualifications, teaching experience and references.
Self-employed contractor position.
