Full job description

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our team and make a meaningful impact across our campus. In this role, you will be instrumental in fostering a strong, positive safety culture, engaging with both staff and students on a daily basis.

As a college, we deliver training across a wide range of disciplines including arboriculture, agriculture, construction trades, food and drink, sport, and animal welfare. With on-site residential accommodation and a variety of commercial operations—such as extensive sports facilities, events, and a large farming estate—this position offers variety and the opportunity to contribute to a truly dynamic environment.

Working closely with our industry specialists, you will help ensure safe practices and uphold high standards across all areas of the organisation.

Interviews for this role will be taking place week commencing 15 June 2026.

Your duties

You will be working in a standalone role reporting to the Chief Operating Officer to champion positive engagement in health and safety management. Key aims of this post will be:

To foster and promote a positive culture of Health & Safety
Provide Health & Safety support and advice for the College
Provide health and safety support to ensure that practices and procedures comply with current legislation and College policies
Monitoring and auditing of risk management policies and procedures
Providing occupational health support and advice for the college

Person specification

The successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualities will include:

Minimum of grade C in GCSE Maths and English Language (or equivalent)
NEBOSH Certificate in OH & S or equivalent qualification
Full driving licence
Experience of working in a similar role
Experience of providing, briefings/training to individuals and teams on Health & Safety matters
Ability to write accurate reports for a variety of stakeholders
Ideally, experienced with liaising with external enforcement agencies
Experience of working within an agricultural environment would be beneficial.
