Job summary
The Specialist Pharmacist Cancer & Technical Services plays a key role in the safe delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy SACT, supports the management of the Chemotherapy Production unit, and contributes to audit and patient safety initiatives. The role also involves providing high-quality clinical pharmacy services across wards and departments, promoting evidence-based and cost-effective prescribing, and supporting the development of pharmacy staff.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
Ensure safe and compliant manufacturing and dispensing of prescriptions in the aseptic unit.
Provide clinical input and policy development for chemotherapy and oncological care.
Participate in clinical trials and multidisciplinary meetings.
Maintain standards and implement NICE recommendations.
Deliver pharmaceutical care and medicines optimisation across wards.
Review prescriptions for appropriateness and legality.
Train and mentor pharmacy students and junior pharmacists.
Monitor non formulary drug use and support clinical governance initiatives.
Promote cost effective drug use and participate in audits.
Provide financial and risk data related to medicines.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
Promote safe prescribing and mentor junior staff.
Manage own workload and contribute to audits and training.
Deliver education and support strategic planning.
