(Full-Time, 40 hrs per week)
Who we are …
Creating Adventurous Places (CAP.CO) have a track record in delivering bespoke, innovative design and build solutions with a complete sense of place; spaces that just feel right in their environment.
The places we create invite children and parents alike into worlds of imagination. Every project responds to its surroundings, drawing on local stories, history and folklore to shape play structures that are entirely unique.
If that sounds like your cup of tea, you’ll be someone who’s committed to understanding client needs, confident in decision-making, and quick to adapt when challenges inevitably arise in a multidisciplinary environment.
What we need …
We’re looking for Freelance CAD Technicians to support our design and build teams in bringing these adventurous places to life; translating creative ideas into clear, accurate, buildable technical information.
Who we’re looking for …
Individuals that take pride in their work, sweat the small stuff, and enjoy solving problems as part of a collaborative team. You’ll be organised, proactive, and comfortable managing their own workload, while staying closely connected to designers, project managers, and the build team. Bringing a positive, solutions-focused mindset, communicate clearly, and be open to feedback as part of an evolving creative process.
What you’ll do …
CAD Technicians at CAP.CO play a key role in turning imaginative concepts into reality. Producing high-quality drawing packages and technical documentation that enable our in-house teams to deliver a wide range of projects. From commercial adventure play sites and visitor attractions to treehouse accommodation, viewing towers, and even the occasional festival stage.
The role is responsible for:
- Producing accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings in line with project briefs, timelines, and CAP.CO standards
- Translating design concepts into clear, buildable technical information
- Collaborating closely with the build team, designers, project managers, engineers, and suppliers
- Revising and refining designs in response to feedback, client input, and project changes
- Ensuring all drawings comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations
- Maintaining organised, up-to-date project documentation and file structures
- Monitoring your own time and workload against project budgets and deadlines
- Communicating progress clearly, flagging risks early, and supporting problem-solving across the team
- Providing technical support during both design and construction phases
Above all, helping ensure everything we produce meets the quality, creativity, and attention to detail that defines CAP.CO.
Apply if you have …
- A background in the built environment, design technology, engineering, drafting, or similar
- Strong CAD skills (AutoCAD essential) and familiarity with 3D modelling tools such as SketchUp, SolidWorks, or 3DS Max
- A solid understanding of technical design and construction principles
- Great attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality drawing packages
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- The ability to problem-solve quickly and think laterally
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
- A self-starting mindset with the ability to manage your own workload
It’s a bonus (but not essential) if you also have …
-
Knowledge of playground safety standards and planning/building regulations
- Experience in timber construction, adventure play, or visitor attractions
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for occasional site visits
And if you don’t tick every box but think you’d be a great fit, we’d still love to hear from you for a good old-fashioned chinwag.
