We are looking to hire a QA/QC Lead on a full time, permanent basis. Based at our facility in Great Yarmouth, the QA/QC Lead is to oversee the delivery of Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities at the Great Yarmouth facility, ensuring that equipment, components and associated certification meet Claxton’s technical, quality, and contractual requirements prior to dispatch and throughout project execution. The role provides coordination across QA and QC functions, ensuring effective inspection, certification and documentation processes are in place, while interfacing with the Quality Engineer, Projects Team, Supply Chain and Operations Team to support successful project delivery and reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
Duties & Main Responsibilities
Coordinate the delivery of QA and QC activities across site operations and projects.
Provide direction and support to QA Technicians and QC Inspector(s) to ensure inspection, certification and documentation activities are completed effectively.
Ensure QA and QC resources are aligned to project priorities, loadouts, and operational requirements.
Act as the key interface between QAQC and projects and operational teams.
Provide support (as resource/time permits) to other parts of the Claxton organisation
Oversee the review and verification of equipment certification and documentation to confirm compliance with project, client, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure completion and quality of QA Data Packs, Manufacturing Record Books (MRBs) and Certificates of Conformity (CoC) by team and others.
Ensure documentation from other disciplines (e.g. PUWER checklists, inspection records, supplier certification) is captured and included.
Ensure equipment is not released for dispatch until certification and documentation requirements are satisfied.
Ensure execution of inspection and verification activities, including dimensional, visual, and welding inspections are being at Claxton facilities and supplier premises where required
Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, material certification, and applicable industry standards (API, ISO, ASME, etc.).
Coordinate third-party inspections and recertification activities, including LOLER, pressure systems, NDT, and other statutory inspections.
Support supplier quality activities by ensuring inspection requirements are defined, understood, and executed.
Liaise with suppliers and third parties to ensure inspection and certification requirements are met.
Participate in project kick-off, operational and planning meetings to provide QAQC input and updates on equipment readiness.
Work closely with the Quality Engineer to ensure Quality Plans and QITPs are understood and applied.
Liaise with Project Engineers, Asset Management and Operations teams to support project delivery.
Support identification and management of non-conformances, working with the Quality Engineer and QHSE Manager on investigation and resolution.
Identify recurring quality issues and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Promote initiatives to reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
Conduct internal audits in accordance with the site audit programme.
Support client and certification audits, providing QAQC input and documentation.
Ensure QAQC processes comply with Claxton IMS and applicable standards.
Provide guidance and day-to-day support to QA Technicians and QC Inspector(s).
Support development of QAQC capability across the site.
Promote a culture of quality ownership and continuous improvement.
Provide regular updates on QAQC performance, issues, and risks to the QHSE Manager.
Communicate quality issues and priorities across operations, projects, and suppliers.
Required
Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Proven experience in quality assurance and/or quality control within engineering, fabrication, or oil & gas environments.
Strong understanding of inspection techniques, certification documentation, and equipment standards.
Experience working with supplier manufacturing and third-party inspection bodies.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and certification documentation
Strong technical understanding of inspection and certification processes.
Ability to coordinate multiple QAQC activities across projects and operations.
Effective communication and collaboration with engineers, suppliers, and operational teams.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality and compliance issues.
