AddQual Ltd is looking for a Metrology Technician to join our team in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, detail-focused individual with one to three years’ experience in metrology, dimensional inspection or precision engineering.
You will support measurement and inspection activities across technically demanding sectors, with a primary focus on aerospace manufacturing. Using AddQual’s advanced metrology systems and processes, you will inspect components and assemblies, record accurate measurement data and help ensure that customer and engineering requirements are achieved.

Duties
- Support goods-in and dispatch activities, including receiving and checking customer components, booking items into the internal tracking system, maintaining traceability, and securely packaging completed work for return to customers.
- Prepare components, fixtures and measurement equipment for inspection.
- Perform dimensional inspection and precision measurement of components, assemblies, tooling and fixtures.
- Operate optical scanning systems and manual inspection equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements.
- Record, review and report inspection results accurately using ZEISS Inspect, Polyworks and Microsoft Excel.
- Identify dimensional non-conformances and escalate issues to the relevant engineer or quality representative.
- Support first-article inspection, production inspection and validation activities.
- Assist with non-contact data capture using optical scanning systems.
- Support engineers with measurement projects, investigations and improvement activities.
- Ensure that inspection equipment is maintained correctly and remains within calibration.
- Follow AddQual procedures, customer requirements and applicable quality standards.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
Requirements
- One to three years’ experience in metrology, dimensional inspection, quality inspection or precision engineering.
- Practical experience using manual measurement and inspection equipment.
- Experience operating a coordinate measuring machine or optical measurement system.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
- Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to record and communicate inspection results clearly.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
- GOM / ZEISS Optical measurement systems.
- MCOSMOS, PC-DMIS, GOM Inspect, ZEISS Inspect or PolyWorks.
- Non-contact scanning and 3D data capture.
- Aerospace or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- AS9100, ISO 13485 or IATF 16949 quality systems.
A relevant engineering, manufacturing or metrology qualification is preferred, although practical experience will also be considered.

Pay: £25,420.00-£30,541.97 per year
