Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and well-kept. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for horticulture, landscaping, and outdoor maintenance to develop their skills in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities
- Perform general landscape maintenance including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising
- Operate hand tools such as spades, rakes, shears, and hedge trimmers to carry out routine tasks
- Use power tools and machinery including excavators and irrigation systems to support maintenance activities
- Conduct routine inspections of grounds to identify areas needing repair or improvement
- Assist with construction projects related to outdoor spaces, including installing features or structures
- Maintain equipment through basic mechanical knowledge and routine servicing
- Ensure all work areas are safe, clean, and compliant with health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively
Qualifications
- Experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, horticulture or related fields is preferred
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to maintaining power tools and machinery
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools and power tools for outdoor work
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and their maintenance is desirable
- Knowledge of construction practices related to outdoor environments is a plus
- Ability to operate equipment such as excavators safely and effectively
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Physical fitness to perform manual labour outdoors in various weather conditions
- A valid driver’s licence is advantageous but not mandatory
