Overview
Ridgway Cars is looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic and detail-focused individual to join our team as a Junior Vehicle Valeter and Detailer.
This is a hands-on, entry-level position working an initial two days per week. The successful applicant will help clean, prepare and present our vehicles to a consistently high standard.
An important part of the role will involve photographing vehicles for our online listings and marketing channels. A good eye for detail, presentation and composition is therefore essential.
Previous valeting or vehicle photography experience is not required, as full training will be provided. This position may offer the opportunity for additional hours in the future, subject to business requirements and individual performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesVehicle Washing and Detailing
- Hand-wash, rinse and dry vehicles to a clean, spot-free finish.
- Clean windows, mirrors, wheels and tyres to a high standard.
- Assist with interior cleaning, including vacuuming, dusting and wiping down surfaces.
- Support the preparation of vehicles for display, collection and customer handover.
- Ensure each vehicle is presented professionally and consistently.
Vehicle Photography
- Photograph vehicles for online listings and marketing purposes.
- Ensure vehicles are clean, correctly positioned and ready before photographs are taken.
- Use appropriate lighting, positioning and angles to produce clear and appealing images.
- Check that photographs accurately represent the vehicle and meet Ridgway Cars’ presentation standards.
Parking and Vehicle Movement
- Safely move, park and retrieve vehicles as directed.
- Follow all site procedures and instructions when positioning vehicles.
- Handle customer and company vehicles carefully and responsibly.
General Preparation and Housekeeping
- Keep the valeting and vehicle preparation areas clean, safe and organised.
- Inspect vehicles for visible damage or presentation issues and report these promptly.
- Assist with general vehicle preparation and pre-delivery tasks as required.
- Maintain equipment and materials in a clean and serviceable condition.
Requirements
The successful applicant must:
- Hold a full and valid UK driving licence.
- Have a genuine eye for detail and take pride in producing high-quality work.
- Be reliable, punctual and willing to learn.
- Be able to work efficiently in a busy, practical environment.
- Be comfortable undertaking physical work, including standing, bending and lifting.
- Have an interest in vehicles, photography or visual presentation.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
No previous valeting, detailing or photography experience is required, as full training will be provided.
Working Hours
This is initially a part-time position working two days per week.
Typical working hours will be approximately 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, although the exact days and hours will be agreed with the successful applicant.
The role may include occasional or alternate Saturday morning working, depending on the agreed schedule and the operational requirements of the business.
Additional hours may become available as the role develops.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
