JOB DESCRIPTION
Maintenance & General Assistant
Location: Oban Area
Hours: Approx. 2 – 3 days / week
Remuneration: Negotiable depending on experience
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a practical, dependable and personable individual to provide general support to a private individual based near Oban. This is a varied, hands-on role – no two weeks will be the same.
The right person for this role doesn’t need to be a specialist in any one area. What matters more is that you are someone who notices what needs doing, gets on with it quietly and competently, and can be trusted to represent the household well in any situation.
ROLE: WHAT IS INVOLVED
Day to day, the role is likely to include a mix of the following:
- General maintenance and minor repairs around the property
- Maintaining vehicles, keeping them fuelled, in good order and managing their annual MOT, servicing, taxation etc.
- Looking after two Labrador dogs when the owner is away
- Cutting grass and maintaining the grounds
- Attending to seasonal upkeep: clearing gutters etc
- Running errands as needed
- Collecting the principal and guests from the airport and providing transfers as required
This list is indicative rather than exhaustive. The role will evolve naturally depending on what’s needed and what suits both sides.
SPECIFICATION: ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will:
- Be practically minded and handy across a range of everyday tasks
- Be a confident, safe driver with a full UK driving licence (essential)
- Be reliable, punctual and easy to get in contact with
- Be comfortable with dogs
- Be trustworthy and discreet: you will be working closely with a private individual
- Be personable and well-presented, particularly when representing the household
- Be self-motivated and happy working independently under you own initiative
SPECIFICATION: WORKING ENVIRONMENT
You will be supporting a busy private individual. The atmosphere is relaxed and you will largely work independently. The working relationship is close and informal, but the expectations are high - reliability and good judgement matter.
SPECIFICATION: REMUNERATION, HOURS, LOCAATION & CONTRACT
- The role is expected to be approximately 2 – 3 days per week, however there is flexibility around this depending on the seasons and what work for both parties
- Pay is negotiable and will depend on experience.
- The role is based in a rural location near Oban, so a full UK driving licence is essential.
