A little about us
We're Mooeys, a premium everyday beauty group with seven salons across the south, in Horsham, Farnham, Haslemere, Godalming, Petersfield, Newbury and Winchester. We're not a luxury spa, and we're not a budget nail bar. We sit somewhere far nicer in the middle. Accessible, professional, warm and brilliantly consistent.
We don't try to do everything. What we do offer, things like nails, waxing, lashes and brows, and beautiful pedicures, we do exceptionally well. We'd always rather be great at a handful of treatments than average at fifty.
Our team are called Moos, and together with our clients they make up the Herd. We're proudly female-founded, we're growing fast, and we take what we do very seriously. We just never take ourselves too seriously.
The role
As our Winchester Salon Manager, the salon is yours to run. You'll be accountable for the smooth day to day running of the place, the standard of every treatment, and the whole client experience from the moment someone walks in. Just as importantly, you'll lead, support and grow the team of Moos around you.
You'll still be on the floor doing treatments too. This is a hands-on, lead-from-the-front role, not a back-office one.
What you'll be doing
- Leading, motivating and developing your team, through training, appraisals and good old fashioned encouragement.
- Keeping standards high, on treatments, cleanliness, hygiene and the overall guest experience.
- Running the practical side, rotas, holidays, absence, stock and staffing levels.
- Keeping an eye on the numbers, revenue, payroll and stock control, to help the salon thrive.
- Being the friendly first point of contact for clients, from bookings to the occasional complaint.
- Spotting opportunities to grow the salon and make the client experience even better.
- Making sure everything is safe, compliant and running beautifully behind the scenes
What we're looking for
Essential:
- A Level 2 Beauty qualification or equivalent
- Confident with gel manicures and hot wax
- Experienced in intimate waxing using hot wax
- At least 2 years of therapy experience
- Comfortable with computerised booking systems
- Genuine people management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team
- Great time management, initiative and a proper team player attitude
Lovely to have:
- A Level 3 Beauty qualification or equivalent
- Confidence handling client requirements, from consultations to the odd complaint or reaction
- Good with the everyday admin (Word, Excel, that sort of thing)
- An outgoing nature and a genuine love of working with people
Above all
You'll be kind, warm and dependable. The sort of manager people actually want to work for. Someone who leads by example, cares about doing things properly, and leaves the salon better than they found it.
