Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated SEN English Teacher to provide specialised support to students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging English lessons tailored to individual requirements, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting the overall development of children with special educational needs. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners while working within a supportive and dynamic educational setting.

Overall Purpose

The classroom teacher will teach a range of subject lessons from our bespoke planned curriculum as well as have responsibility for a SEN class.
Suitable candidates will have a demonstrable background in promoting high-level outcomes for pupils with SEN needs.
They will have experience of delivering a high-quality child focused curriculum as well as strong pastoral qualities.
They will assist the Inclusion Lead to determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in school.
Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies associated with the bespoke provisions.

Duties

Design and deliver customised English lessons that accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive classroom conduct.
Collaborate with speech therapists, special education staff, and parents to develop individualised education plans (IEPs).
Utilise applied behaviour analysis techniques to support behavioural and educational progress.
Provide tutoring in literacy skills, proofreading, and communication skills enhancement.
Assist with physical education activities when required, encouraging physical development alongside academic growth.
Mentor students to build confidence and independence in their learning journey.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with colleagues and families regarding student development.

Requirements

Proven experience working with children, particularly within special education or early childhood settings.
Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, applied behaviour analysis, behaviour management, and tutoring strategies.
Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams.
Background in early childhood education, childcare, or preschool experience is highly desirable.
Experience teaching physical education or mentoring young learners is advantageous.
Ability to proofread and support literacy development through targeted interventions.
Passion for supporting children with special educational needs and a commitment to inclusive education practices.
Relevant qualifications in teaching, special education, or related fields are essential.
