Duties will include:
Main Responsibilities
- To be responsible for and to oversee the day to day management, staffing, organisation and smooth running of the Room.
- To develop the ethos and to create a welcoming and family friendly environment.
- To contribute to the strategic planning, monitoring, evaluation and development of the Room.
- To be responsible at all times for high standards of care and education of children in line with statutory requirements.
- To ensure effective communication between the staff and parents.
- To order and maintain equipment and resources in the Room.
- To keep a register and up to date records of all children using the Room and to give regular feedback to parents about their child’s development and progress.
- Adhering to the Policies & Procedures of Cornabracken Child Care.
- Working as part of a team.
- The care and supervision of the children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs.
- The planning and preparation of activities, to meet children's individual needs, liaising with parents and negotiating working targets ensuring effective communication within the setting.
- Offering all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background.
- Keeping of development records and observations.
- Positive management of children's behaviour.
- Preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the playrooms and equipment.
- Providing a good role model for Students and helping new staff to fit into the nursery.
- Keeping and monitoring accident, incident, and medication and risk assessment records.
- Supervision of meals and mealtimes.
- Attendance of staff meetings as arranged by the Nursery Managers/Supervisor.
- Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Managers.

Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge, understanding and practical experience of Day Care.
- Knowledge and practical understanding of child development and parenting.
- Knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulations relating to day care for children and the inspections process for approval of day care settings.
- Able to work independently and to manage own time efficiently.
- Ability to develop an effective team.
- Warm and caring personality – friendly and approachable to families.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.

Pay: £14.00 per hour
