Role: Trainer Assessor - Engineering
Hours: 36.25 hours per week, Permanent Full-Time
Salary: £ 32,943- £43,356 FTE
Pension contribution: 15% (£ FTE)
Location: Stretford campus with the requirement to travel to employer sites
The Trafford and Stockport College Group (TSCG) is seeking an experienced Engineering Trainer Assessor contributing to our vision of unlocking potential for successful futures.
About The Role:
Manage a caseload of engineering apprentices, providing regular workplace support, coaching and progress reviews to ensure successful achievement of apprenticeship standards.
Conduct formal reviews with apprentices and employers, setting clear targets, monitoring progress and implementing interventions where required.
Assess apprentice competence in the workplace through observation, professional discussions, portfolio reviews and other assessment methods.
Coach and mentor apprentices to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed for success in their role and career.
Support learners to build and maintain high-quality evidence portfolios that meet apprenticeship and awarding body requirements.
Maintain accurate and compliant records using electronic portfolio systems and learner management systems.
Build strong partnerships with employers, ensuring apprenticeship training aligns with workplace needs and business objectives.
Lead apprentice onboarding and induction activities, ensuring learners start their apprenticeship journey successfully.
Collaborate with curriculum and teaching teams to align workplace learning with off-the-job training and support timely learner interventions.
Deliver additional training and underpinning knowledge where required to support apprentice development and achievement.
Prepare apprentices for End Point Assessment (EPA), including mock assessments and guidance throughout the process.
Contribute to quality assurance, compliance and continuous improvement activities, while promoting high standards of health, safety and learner wellbeing.
About you
- Qualified to Level 3 or above in a relevant Engineering discipline (Machining, Mechanical or Electrical).
- Hold an Assessor qualification (CAVA, A1 or equivalent) or be willing to work towards one.
- Have GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Bring recent industry experience in machining, mechanical or electrical maintenance/fitting engineering.
- Have experience of supporting, training, mentoring or developing apprentices, colleagues or learners.
- Possess a strong understanding of engineering practices, workplace health and safety, and apprenticeship standards.
- Understand competency-based assessment and the requirements of End Point Assessment.
- Be an excellent coach and mentor, able to motivate learners and help them achieve their full potential.
- Have outstanding communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employers and apprentices.
- Be highly organised, able to manage a diverse caseload and maintain accurate records using digital systems.
- Demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and to safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults.
- Be willing to travel to employer sites and work flexibly to meet the needs of learners and employers.
