Job Summary
You will be responsible for making bread production better, cheaper and consistent at scale, through running factory trials (new recipes, ingredients or methods), improving efficiency and quality, working with data to fix problems, supporting new product launches and acting as a bridge between NPD, production, suppliers and customers.
You will work closely with key customers and retailers to ensure our product meets their exacting demands. This will involve having a close relationship with our customers and their sites to understand their requirements and ensure we can be adaptable to meet expectation. The role is based in Corby, and you will be expected to work on site. There is expected to be travel between customer sites as well as the manufacturing sites in Hull. The role has a high degree of flexibility required to ensure the needs of the business are met through a 24/7 manufacturing process.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Customer Facing
- Interact with suppliers and customers in a professional manner, always representing Jacksons professionally and with expertise, in manners relating to product and materials
- Attend customer panels taking notes to ensure thorough feedback to site teams is available and relevant
- Attend customer sites and understand how they use our products, take these learnings to improve our customer offering and share learnings on site to establish food safety / quality culture in line with customer requirements
Process Control / Innovation
- Collect information, using various analytical tools (laboratory equipment, organoleptic assessment, external sampling) and present to the business and customers on product quality, innovation and recipe management
- Conduct plant trials through crop change harvest cycles and recommend product, process and recipe amendments to ensure product quality is maintained
- Lead and conduct plant trials reviewing KPI’s like waste, yield and line efficiency comparing trials results v’s standard production and deliver a programme of continuous improvement
- Continuously improve the bread making process by making use of data and observations
- Have a great knowledge and understanding of ingredients used in breadmaking process, and be able to recommend changes in line with quality requirements
New Product / Existing Product Development
- Support procurement team on trials and approvals of alternative materials and suppliers ensuring quality, legality and safety is maintained
- Review quality indicators in order to maintain consistent quality bread ensuring cost is at the forefront of decision making
- Monitor recipe performance to ensure product quality and financial standards are being met
Decision Making
- Monitor quality attributes of products, using analysis and data to drive continuous improvement and be responsible for product changes determined through the outcome of any trials
- Collect information, using various analytical tools (laboratory equipment, organoleptic assessment, external sampling) and present to the business and customers on product quality, innovation and recipe management

Pay: Up to £40,000.00 per year
