Manufacturing Technician – Optical & Semiconductor Systems

£30,000 to £40,000 depending on experience

We're looking for a skilled Manufacturing Technician to build, integrate and test the high-precision optical, electro-mechanical and photonic systems that sit at the heart of our technology.

What you'll be doing

Building and testing complex optical, electro-mechanical and electronic sub-assemblies

Integrating critical modules into our advanced metrology systems

Following detailed build, assembly and test procedures

Diagnosing manufacturing and assembly issues and driving effective resolutions

Working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering and Supply Chain teams to improve product quality and efficiency

Supporting root cause investigations and continuous improvement activities

Maintaining high standards within laboratory and cleanroom environments

Ensuring assemblies are delivered to quality, cost and schedule requirements

Contributing to a safe, organised and high-performing manufacturing environment

What we're looking for

You'll ideally come from semiconductor equipment, photonics, scientific instrumentation, aerospace, medical devices or another high-tech manufacturing environment.

We'd particularly like to hear from people with experience of:

Building and testing complex, high-value technology products

Optical systems, lasers, fibre optics or precision instrumentation

Electro-mechanical assembly and system integration

Root cause analysis and structured problem solving

Manufacturing quality standards and best practice

Reading and following technical documentation and build procedures

Working with precision mechanical and electronic components

Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship

Nice to have

Semiconductor equipment or semiconductor manufacturing experience

Cleanroom working experience

Wiring and soldering to IPC standards

Optical alignment and laser-based systems

Manufacturing engineering or process improvement exposure

Experience of complex photonics or metrology equipment

Qualifications

A HND, degree, apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience in engineering, manufacturing, electronics, photonics or a related discipline.
