Responsibilities
The Strategy and Quantitative Analytics team at Burford Capital is seeking an Associate Product Owner to lead the ongoing development and operation of workstreams within Burford’s investment modelling platform. Acting as a link between the Strategy and Quantitative Analytics team, the Technology Team, and the platform’s users, the Associate Product Owner will own the product requirements, the specifications, and the development plan. Working closely with developers and business analysts, the Associate Product Owner will be responsible for delivering some of the most crucial pieces of Burford’s modelling infrastructure.
Responsibilities include:
- Owning the requirements and analytical direction for multiple workstreams for the development and refinement of Burford’s proprietary investment modelling platform.
- Understanding technical modelling requirements, analysing proposed solutions, and troubleshooting potential edge cases or conflicts with existing modelling logic.
- Act as a representative of the Strategy and Quantitative Analytics team to developers and business analysts, directing function requirements.
- Engaging with users and stakeholders across the business to understand their needs and translate them into clear requirements.
- Drafting functional and technical specifications for new features, platform improvements, and analytical tools, defining analytical logic, calculations and modelling methodology they must implement.
- Managing test packets and validation materials to confirm that functionality performs as intended with calculations and outputs that are numerically correct.
- Defining and overseeing user acceptance testing to confirm that delivered functionality meets requirements and performs as intended.
- Coordinating with Project Management, Business Architecture, and Technology teams to support effective delivery of software changes.
- Identifying opportunities to improve Burford’s models and the systems that run them and communicating recommendations to the wider Strategy and Quantitative Analytics team.

Qualifications & Experience
- Candidates should have an outstanding academic record.
- 2-4 years of experience as a Product Owner, or in a comparable role responsible for delivering software products.
- Candidates should have recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a STEM field.
- Development experience with Python through projects or as a software developer is strongly preferable.
- Experience working alongside development teams, ideally within an Agile delivery environment.
